Associate Opening

We are seeking an Associate to join our rapidly growing Strategy Consulting practice in Houston. Join our team of seasoned professionals who leverage their skills and experience to create real outcomes for our clients. You will have the opportunity to roll up your sleeves to learn from and collaborate with talented members of our team to provide high quality service to our clients.

Associates play an integral role in evolving and enhancing our client relationships and are hands-on participants throughout the life of our engagements. By working side-by-side with our Managing Directors on projects, Associates gain skills in multi-party negotiations, change management, rethinking strategy, executive presentations, litigation support, financial modeling, turnarounds, downsizing, and a variety of transactions including restructurings, refinancings, and acquisitions.

Associates receive direct interaction with our clients’ C-level executives, private equity sponsors, lenders, and other advisors. In addition, Associates are given opportunities to lead critical stages of our engagements. When assisting new business development efforts, Associates develop marketing, sales, research, strategy and communication skills.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist Managing Directors with all aspects of strategic consulting, financial advisory, restructuring/bankruptcy, debt/equity fundraising, mergers/acquisitions/divestitures

  • Manage interactions with current and potential clients, including C-level executives, creditors, lenders and other investors, law firms and other advisors, and counterparties

  • Develop effective communication strategies to deal with difficult people in tense negotiations

  • Draft internal and client-facing documents including management presentations, investor presentations and pitchbooks

  • Lead critical research into industry, competition, valuation metrics, and capital markets data.

  • Assist in developing, presenting, and executing operational turnaround plans and strategies.

  • Represent Anapolsky Advisors in networking, conferences, recruiting, and other events

  • Occasional travel in support of potential or current engagements

 

Qualifications

  • Required: Background in Psychology, Counseling, or similar field

  • Required: MBA

  • Required: reside in Houston, TX.

  • Required: skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word

  • Required: attention to detail, sense of urgency, analytical rigor

  • Preferred: familiarity with bankruptcy and turnarounds

  • Preferred: familiarity with the oil & gas industry

  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience

  • Significant level of maturity and the ability to work as a team interfacing with top company executives, senior management, lenders, lawyers, accountants and other third parties

  • Highly organized, with the initiative and ability to work with limited supervision after receiving initial instructions

  • Good judgment of when to stop and ask for help versus trying to figure things out by yourself

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to “read” people and de-escalate tension in negotiations to reach a successful deal outcome

  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to creatively fill in gaps from inconsistent or incomplete data sets through extrapolation or supportable assumptions

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of change and uncertainty on a day-to-day basis
